Schemerlicht – Listening posts
During the Schemerlicht Festival, narrative takes centre stage, threading its way through each installation and inviting visitors to explore art from fresh perspectives. This year’s theme acts as a guide through the festival grounds, encouraging personal interpretations and deeper reflections on the relationship between art, science, and nature.
In collaboration with Studio Zalán Szakács, Studio den Haan presents a unique installation: a series of specially designed Listening Posts. Inspired by pioneering weather balloons that gather data from the skies, as well as the legendary lunar lander, The Eagle these posts evoke a spirit of exploration and discovery. Each structure stands three meters tall on sturdy foundation screws, featuring a striking four-part circular frame at the top that cradles an inflatable sphere illuminated by RGBW LED lighting. A speaker at the base of each post brings the festival’s narrative to life, weaving an audio story that immerses listeners in the surrounding artworks and landscapes.
These listening posts are more than just structures; they are portals to a deeper sensory experience. The combination of light, sound, and design creates an immersive environment where visitors are encouraged to pause, look further and truly listen to the story embedded in the art. Join us at Schemerlicht and let the Listening Posts guide you through a journey that melds storytelling, environmental awareness, and creative expression.
